Food Review: Sepiring Uniquely Malaysian

Yesterday (25/8/16), J received a message from his friend. She sent him a list of restaurant in IOI city mall. So, J has to pick one from the list. Initially J decided to go for Japanese cuisine, but he saw SEPIRING. The word “sepiring” attracted him. Hence, he went to google what is it all about. What caught his eyes is the Gula Melaka Latte. Wow ~ what a great fusion of the west and the east. So he decided to go for it!

Exactly 7am morning, we started our journey from Penang to IOI City Mall. We only succeed with our second attempt in order to get there. So, what had we ordered for our lunch? Here are what we ordered for:

*Photo? Are you kidding? Eat first then only photo!

1. Spicy Smoked Beef Pasta (set lunch, come with a glass of peach tea)

Ops! No green, orange, red, white or black. It appear to be in yellow with few slices of meat. The portion is small (maybe because it is a set lunch). The spicy creamy sauce serves nicely with the smoked beef with the turmeric taste. The name is a WAO factor and the pasta suit to fill a hungry tummy.

Taste: 6/10 (BAD: 1-3, SOSO: 4-6, GOOD: 7-8, SUPERB:9-10)

Aesthetic: 7/10 BAD: 1-3, SOSO: 4-6, GOOD: 7-8, SUPERB:9-10)

Price: OPS *J did not keep the bill...

2. Chicken Satay Burger

Yes, the picture was taken by J. Don't expect you will get French fries from it. This burger is served with LEKOR! What is Lekor? It is a fish cracker originated from Terengganu. Layers of the burger are: Charcoal sesame bread - a brown color paste - fried onion ring - cheese - shredded cucumber - satay chicken - satay sauce - bread. at first, J had noticed the brown color sauce, but he doesn't know what it is. After the first bite, J was amazed by in what world will people combine peanut butter with this burger (if he is not mistaken). The taste is fantastic. however, they still have some improvement for the Charcoal sesame bread (texture not that nice, soggy feel) and the satay chicken (is a bit hard for me). No fries but Lekor. The Lekor is good for O (depends on personal preference, some they do it in crispy but for sepiring, they provide crisp at outer with soft inner) but superb for J (no complaint). Oh! the portion is big.

3. Nyonya Nasi Ulam with Ayam Percik

The plate is huge, so does the portion for this dish. We prefer to mix the kerabu together with the nasi ulam which covered with coconut floss. This combination just bring the whole thing to the next level (taste & smell good). Thanks to the perfect ratio of the rice, kerabu and coconut floss. The ayam percik is covered with a spicy creamy sauce. It taste a bit cheesy but we can't really identify what is it made of. We highly recommend this main course if you dine in sepiring.

4. Gula Melaka Latte

This coffee comes in 3 layers: gula Melaka, milk and last but not least the coffee as you can see from the picture. This is our very first time to try this combination and it doesn't disappoint us. The taste of the gula Melaka blend well with the aroma of coffee and the sweetness is just nice.

Overall, the foods did not disappoint us. Thanks to Sepiring's atmosphere, we have a good catch up with our friend over there.
